David Mason is the face behind Gen1 Sportsturf. He has had over 30 years experience managing turf, primarily at golf courses.

Starting his apprenticeship at The Metropolitan Golf Club on the Melbourne Sandbelt he worked his way up to Assistant Superintendent. After several years as Superintendent at Warrnambool (Country Victoria) and Riversdale Golf Club (Melbourne), he returned to The Metropolitan as Superintendent for 7 years before moving to Brisbane Golf Club.

Being involved in golf tournaments such as Australian Opens,  World Cup of Golf and Presidents’ Cups has given him valuable insights into the governing bodies such as the PGA Tour, R&A and Golf Australia. 

He has completed a multitude of construction projects including four complete course irrigation installs, tee to green hole construction and rebuilds and sports field construction. 

With a proven track record of project management, weed and pest control strategies and consultation with clubs, committees, owners, shires and volunteer groups, he is most capable of meeting all the needs of any sportsturf establishment. 

Starting Gen1 Sportsturf has allowed him to pursue his long held passion for helping to develop the industry, including country and remote areas. This has seen him work at a variety of facilities from outback sand scrapes to bowling clubs and ovals and general open spaces.
